Mimbres / Anasazi Fishes Design Replication Bowl

New!
US$250.00

Up for sale is a replication of a Mimbres fish design bowl. The original artifact is displayed at the Maxwell Archeology Museum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The replication bowl was created at Starling Black Studio in the White Mountains of Arizona.  Traditional and primitive techniques and processes were used to recreate the piece. The bowl’s surface is rich with fire clouds and a smoky patina that can only be rendered through the use of a wood pit firing procedure. The design was drafted using homemade hair and yucca brushes.  “Fishes Bowl” is an exquisite replication inspired by an unusual and unique original once created by the now extinct Mimbres Culture. Our goal at the Studio is to create authentic appearing replications of original artifacts from extinct cultures. If you love archeology and the rawness of the prehistoric arts but find that actual artifacts are cost prohibitive and often unavailable, then a replication bowl may be an affordable and available alternative solution. Mrs. Coral and Mr. Starling Black strive to create authentic appearing replications of actual artifacts “Fishes Bowl” is a wonderful example and replication of the fine art once produced in the high deserts of prehistoric America.
