Anasazi / Mimbres Swallow Bowl Replication

US$75.00

The extinct Mimbres Culture is now best known for the stylized renditions of the natural world that they painted upon small to medium sized ceramic bowls and vessels.  A variety of birds were the subject of many of their paintings. I believe this rendition to be a swift or swallow-like bird. It is simply drafted and painted. The replication bowl was pit fired which rendered rich fire clouds and a smoky patina upon its surface.  The paint was then stressed to give it an antique and authentic appearing essence.  It is our goal at Starling Black Studio to recreate prehistoric designs inspired by the extinct cultures that long ago created them. I believe if you appreciate the rawness and simplicity of the prehistoric arts then you will be incredibly pleased with the acquisition of this replication, “Swallow Bowl.”
