Anasazi / Mimbres Replication Bowl of Lion Tracking a Deer

US$200.00

The extinct Mimbres Culture, an offshoot of the Anasazi, once inhabited the southwestern deserts of America from approximately circa 200 to 1150 A.D. Who they were, where they went, why they left, is a matter of speculation and conjecture. What we do know is that they left a legacy of wonderfully painted ceramic bowls of the natural world that surrounded them. Up for sale and for your consideration is the rendition of what appears to be a feline creature tracking a member of the deer family. The deer appears to erupt in fear as it peers over its back keenly aware of its pursuer.  The replication bowl was recreated at Starling Black Studio in the White Mountains of Arizona. The vessel was handmade and painted with homemade brushes of hair and yucca, fired in a dirt pit, it emerged from the hot coals and wood ashes with a smoky patina of rich fire clouds which can only be attained from the use of the primitive techniques used to process it. The goal of Starling Black Studio is to reproduce authentic appearing artifacts and designs from extinct cultures. If you have a love for archeology and an appreciation for the raw simplicity of the primitive arts, then I believe you will not be disappointed with the acquisition of “Lion Tracks Deer Bowl” as it appears to have just been uncovered at an anthropological dig site. We provide our customers with authentic appearing replications of artifacts that are legal to own, readily available, and extremely affordable. Thank you for looking.

Please note that our replications are for display purposes only and should never be used in the preparation or serving of food.
